Chat Pile are really really good at making music that feels like the embodiment of societal despair. Things are perfectly fine in the world right now so surely music this anxiety inducing can never feel cathartic. We’ve sung their praises again and again, so I was really curious to hear more about how all of it comes to life. Somehow we manage to avoid talking about the state of the world too much, and for a couple of minutes we could pretend that the worst thing in the world are those Emilia Pérez nominations at the Oscars.
